Attorney Courtney Spencer
Attorney Spencer has been practicing law for over twenty years. She helps families and individuals plan for the future by making sure their assets are protected, their children are provided for should something happen, and their healthcare are clearly stated and all necessary legal documents are executed. Attorney Spencer additionally works with families to create special needs trusts to protect the financial future of children and adults with disabilities.
She further represents children with a wide array of disabilities in the area of special education law and has worked diligently to get her clients all the services that they are entitled to under the law. She has successfully tried due process cases and handled federal appeals, working with families from towns throughout Connecticut.
Courtney has spent her entire career tirelessly advocating for her clients. She is considered a legal resource in her field and is a frequent presenter on a variety of topics. She is a James W. Cooper Fellow and sits on the Attorney Wellness Committee.
Courtney earned her law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. While there, she interned for Connecticut Legal Services, was the community outreach director for the Public Interest Law Group and interned at the Center for Children’s Advocacy. She was on the Moot Court Board, was a teaching assistant for the Moot Court program and was an associate editor for The Insurance Law Journal.
As part of her law school program, Courtney also studied at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where she focused her studies on human rights law.
She is admitted to the Connecticut Bar, the District Court of Connecticut, the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Courtney is a lifelong resident of Connecticut. In addition to being an attorney she is a wife and mother to one beautiful daughter.
